944 hood- same as a 924?
Hi all-
I just picked up a clean 1988 944, with the woeful exception of a hole cut into the hood to feed air into the corresponding hole cut in the airbox. I found a clean hood with the same paint color on Craigslist from a 924- will it fit?
Some pics of the backyard cold air intake.....
Thanks!
Matt

All 924 and 944 hoods are the same, they just differ in how you keep them open. Some 924 hoods, particularly early ones, use a rod to keep them open instead of hood struts.
Make sure the donor one has mounts for the struts otherwise you won't be able to keep it open. If it uses the prop rod you'll have either weld the strut mounts to the hood or weld the rod holder to the car (although some mid-year hoods use the prop rods but also have mounts for the struts).

It very much looks like a dryer vent, doesn't it??

Hello Matt! Welcome to Rennlist! I'm a fellow Ohio 944 guy, and I also just bought an 88 944 n/a to freshen up for my daughter's track toy. I live in Avon, on Cleveland's West side. I don't know if you are aware but there is a very large 944 gathering most years, not too far from you at Nelson Ledges Road Course. The dates are going to be August 3-5 2018, but it is not posted yet on the website, (944fest.com) I remember that white one on Craigslist local, It looks like it will be pretty nice once the laundry vent is gone! I went to Lafayette IN to pick up ours. I hope to meet you some day, if not before, bring it to the 944Fest!
