Default Applying loctite 574 to lower crankcase

I am to the point in rebuilding my engine to applying the loctite 574 to the lower crankcase section holding the main bearing halves. The Haynes manual says to use a small nap roller. I guess I need to go and buy one. If you have done this and have any secrets or tips please respond. Do you put the loctite over the whole lower section except of course where the bearings are?

Well I went to Lowe's bought a 3 inch roller, cut it in half and rolled on the Loctite. I hope everthing sealed okay, not sure I got it thick enough in certain places but I guess I will find out when I crank it.

Anaerobic sealer means hardens only in the absence of oxygen. So, what we are trying to do is keep the oil in the passage ways and not shooting out the side between the to flanges. Remember, 574 does not fill deep gaps so if there are any big nicks take them out with a file or scotchbrite. You are not icing a cake but it sure will seem like it. Make the film somewhere just over a 16th. To much is better than not enough! If you are scared you are going to make a mistake, then you probably won't.

Jim, I wish you had answered a few minutes ago. I don't think I got it thick enough. When I rolled it on it was almost like you could see the metal in places, when I torqued the nuts some did come out the sides but not much. Someone had told me to put it on real thin so I did. I guess I will find out. Thanks for the response.
