Have not ordered the clutch. Probably going with Pelican, no tax = ~56.00 savings on the clutch alone. Plus I think I will get axles as well. How hard is it to drill the bolts for saftey wire?

The slop in the shifter happened in a matter of hours, the same time I started hearing the "noise".

What is Pelican's price? I'm usually not much of a price shopper, but I've seen some vendors in Excellence offer deeply discounted kits. I should have bought one when I worked for Big A. I could have bought a Sachs Power Clutch kit for under $400. DOH.

Drilling the bolts will not be a problem other than I will be traveling a bit the first two weeks of January. We'll make a jig and use my drill press. Easy peasy.

I also have safety pliers if they didn't go with the race car to ABQ.

Guys, if they can be had from usual vendors I can get them no problem. Big A not in business up here but from Napa, etc, then no problem.

Why didn't you like it?

I have one on my SE-R and had one on my G20 and love them.

What sort of trouble did you have?

Big A isn't in business anywhere anymore. That's why I no longer work for them.

I'm not sure if NAPA has Sachs. Carquest might.

You can probably get a really really good price. We (Big A) were a warehouse distributor and thus got the best price. I think the regular spring loaded clutch kit for the 944 was about $333 cost. I'll bet you can get it through work for about $400-425. I think that was our price to our customers like you.

Check with Carquest. Or check with Parts Plus. They probably have them as well and Parts Plus is a big supporter of the SCCA races at TMS.

I'd rather deal with Paragon, but the sales tax is a killer on a 600 - 700 dollar item...

I wont be buying it untill the second week of Jan.

Code Red is sitting outside as we speak (type, communicate, whatever). Yes, she will be there!

Geo, buys what? I'd hate to have to open a can of whoop-*** on you! Especially since I think I used my last can a few weeks ago.

George/James - my cost on the clutch kit is like $501.00. There are only a few vendors, may be able to find it cheaper.

Hey, you got nothing on my boss. I think he keeps a can for S&G.

I'm ready to party!! Maybe I'll make Kerry drive. I'm about to go around the office and wish people a Merry Christmas. Woo hoo! Something resembling a normal life for the first time in months!! :sheers:

See y'all there.

I'm about to head for home. I'll go through Excellence when I get there and post what I find.
