I had to take it in to foreign exchange to retension the timing belt so i had them give her some new oil and put the SFR on while I was at it.

Dont know if I can swing March or not. Maybe, maybe not. Last time I talked to Foreign X they said about $3000 to "do it right" meaning disassemble, sand, prime, paint I think. I dont know if that meant all the extras like new stone guards, crests, emblems, stickers, etc but if not I see that stuff on EBay all the time. I will ask again when I pick the car up. Ive seen several old XKEs in their shop they were in the process of restoring.

You gonna paint it same color? Dont be a fool. Keep the blue!

Yeah I think I'm sticking with the same color. Since it has a dark blue interior it kinda limits the choices. I was thinking Polar Silver but I don't want to spend a fortune on the job.

Is $3K good for the average schmoe or is that a special price for you?
I have a few things I'll need to get when it's painted so the cash will be tight. I'm planning on 968 mirrors, door handles, spoiler, GT Racing rear bumper, and an AIR splitter. I'll need to have all that so it can all be painted together.

Harry you need to get that battery off the ground...I would suggest some wood.

Dang Pete you are going all out! Id love 968 mirrors but I dunno. How much are those pooches? My mirror motors are shot anyway. Someone told me the same fuses or motor that powers the power drivers seat runs the mirrors (which doesnt work either). I never move my seat or move my mirrors so I never felt the need to spend the money to fix em.

I dont think that was a special price for me. Just what they told me when I ask Rick there whos the owner. The bottom right front of my spoiler has a parking block scrape to it and will need refinished before they paint. I

Anyway I may have them repolish my Fuchs and repaint those too while they are at it (or while whomever ends up painting the car). I could probably do the Fuchs myself but if Im going to tackle a project like that Im more interested in painting the set of 7s and 9s red from the 930 thats already off the car.

No doubt stick with the blue. I love that color.

Ive heard estimates on painting from anywhere from $2000-5000. Im not sure I need a $5000 paint job. But I do want it done right and considering its the same color to get repainted, I doubt theres as much involved ala painting undersides and stuff.

Chris, the mirrors are about $200 from Sunset Porsche in Oregon.

If everything falls into place I'll be able to get all this done. I figure if I'm gonna get it painted I might as well get all the goodies I want on it first. I'd hate to have the mirrors and other parts painted later and not match the rest of the car. That would suck.
I'll take the car down to Foreign X and see what price I get. I may have to drop your name.

I dunno about that electric blue. Thats almost like my suby. Good on suby, but err, not sure Im convinced on a 944. I like Petes. Glossy, but not too bright, and it seems to have a lot of depth to it. If I remember his interior is real close to the exterior and i like that solid uniform look.

For $200 I might have to think about those mirrors. You putting them on yourself or no? Remember, I dont even know the difference between a flathead and a phillips. I just put turbo door sills and some other stuff on the other car. I may email the dude who did them and see if he can make 944 ones.
