British Columbia used to have pink slips for regi about 10 years ago. Actually it was 2 parts, blue on top, pink on bottom, and it was pink, not some shade of red, PINK!!!

Now I believe the term "to be owned" theoretically would originate from someone expressing their confidence in a given situation, because if one were to truly be in charge of it then they would "own" it, because when one owns something it is in their possession and in most cases this would signify that they could do what they want with it. Now this expression most likely spilled over into more colloquial uses and adaptations, including common "h4x0r" computer slang, therefore translating to "0wn3d", or variations thereof.
