Default brake pad light question

Hello. Three days ago I first saw my brake pad light was on in the dash. However after getting to work in the morning, on the way home that day it wasn't on. Then it was on again in the afternoon, and on in the next morning. But off soon after. It keeps coming on and not coming on. Is this just an indication that I should go ahead and change my pads now?

Check the the brake pad wire for wear and rubbing against the bodywork. If its broken or rubbing the bodywork it will activate the brake pad light.

The light will come on if the wire is broken or grounded. the pads could be close which is probable. Or it could be an electricle problem which happens.
