S2 adjustable cam timing

Anyone out there ever alter their cam timing on an S2?
When I was installing the '91 S2 motor in my 944, I noticed the cam belt pulley is held to the cam with elongated slots. So there seems like there should be some adjustability there. Obviously both the intake and exhaust cams will advance/retard together.
Anyone ever do anything with this?

Yes. There is really nothing to be gained there. It'll move the torque band slightly, but if you go to far the car will not run right, and there is a very real chance of the valves hitting the tops of the pistons.
Set it to factory specs and leave it.

Wow, so the range of adjustment is large enough to let the pistons and valves interfere? Good job, Porsche!
Thanks for the info. I'll just verify it's correct and leave it.

I've found that setting the cam in the slots at center seems to get the most from the motor, to much either way really kills it, as does the cam's being timed wrong. If the cams are set at 113mm apart, and you set the gear to center, it will be good.
