we can compare notes on how winter sports work on your 50/50 and my 55/45 mullet (got the package yesterday, thanks again).
Just left a message for my brother asking him when he plans on taking his 17" sumitomos off and putting the cookie cutters with Pilot Alpins on.
Why is it my snows went on when it was sunny, yet i still have to change tires in crappy weather?

Just went for a ride, car feels pretty good in the slop, looks like about 2 inches here so far, mercedes in front of me just plowed off the road!
See how the winter sports do when I head up to Montvale tonight..
Andy, I really am liking those 968 wheels!
Tom, No prob on the package, glad you received it fast.

I still have an ice scraper left over from my life in the midwest. My wife saw it and asked "What the hell is that?". I haven't had to scrape a windshield in almost 12 years. I'm lovin' it.

I just got back from lunch: it's starting to stick here in North NJ.
Absolutely no traction issues on my side. (Then again, I've got a Subaru AWD to play with !!! )
Let the snow drifting begin!

I'll have to check my anti-lock brakes out in the slush. So far, I have never been able to lock the brakes without the car stopping! Wouldn't wanna go insane and flat-spot my tires.
One thing snow is good for!

Well this morning I got the 944 up the slope of the street, down the other side, but couldn't get up the next hill. Wheels spining but only going sideways, so had to reverse cautiously down the hill and head home.
Hmmm, gots to get me some snow tires! And/or a truck.

Actually, there are two reasons that the 944 is in the garage and the 911 isn't. First, is simply because the 944 is mine, while the 911 isn't. But more importantly, the 944 has new paint, while the paint on the 911 is nearing the end of it's useful life. Therefore, I see no reason to expose the new paint to the elements.
As for why there is no cover on the 911, honestly, I'm not really comfortable with those things. The 911 is driven regularily, too, and will get dirty. I'm just not comfortable having all of that dirt get on the inside of the car cover. Besides, those things are a hassle to have to deal with all the time, especially if it's raining. So, if I take a wet cover off the car I have to put it somewhere. And I'm sure as hell not drying it on the 944!

Andy, It's too late to take it out now, what with that camo paint job and all...
About 4" so far and coming down fast. I love the first good snow of the season, heck the kid in me likes 'em all, you Texans can keep your 110 degree summers and lack of winter. Just finished a pass on the driveway (and a couple neighbors driveways) with the snowblower, to; A) make sure the thing worked OK after 9 months of storage, B)Clear off what's there before the wife parks on it, and C)play with a big loud toy. While going past the 944 to put it away when I was done, I noticed something, MTD red and Guards red are almost identical.

We'll gladly keep the heat. In hot weather girls wear bikinis. In cold wether they wear parkas that make 'em look like overstuffed couch cushions. I vote bikinis!

Seeing all these pictures just convinces me more and more that Pittsburgh resides within its own weather system. Although we have maybe a half inch of snow now.
As for driving tendencies and SUVs here in the 'burgh, it's the complete opposite. A half-inch of snow on the ground and people panic. A possibility of ice anywhere in the time zone? Okay, let's drive 5 mph. A snow storm headed our way? Quick, better go to the grocery store and stock up. First time that happened I thought I missed the announcement for WWIII.
Funny thing is how well a 50/50 RWD car will handle in the snow, even sans snow tires. I was pleasantly surprised the first time. And then when I remembered there were no ABS the real fun started! I mean that literally, because parking lots make for good fun in the snow.

I shoveled my neighbors driveway because his is flat and mine has a slope. put my brothers snow tires in there proper mounting place, and it took about four tries for him to get his 944 "up" the flat driveway. 25 minutes later the snows were on, and he was again lovin the feeling of traction.
the winter sports held nicely on the mullet. i just had to keep the revs down. max torque is at about 2500 rpm. after 2000 the power just pushed the 225 tires. kept the revs down, and the car stuck nicely.
