i know, not too many people have done this. is it extremely hard to do? i don't think i could do it myself, but what would it involve and how much $ would it involve? any pics of one? does it mean rear fenders change too?
are their any other alternatives to making the rear end of the 944 look less outdated? because i personally don't like the tailights too much.

Hmm, looks like it is only for the cabrio, for the hatchback, it would require some rear-end modifications.
I looked into just getting a fiberglasss rear-end and blending it in, and everything is so different, you even have to move the lock for the rear hatch, plus all the tail light work, modifying the quarter panels, etc. I thought it would look great, and mine had the rear end hit just recently too.

i was pondering picking up a fiberglass 968 bumper and some used 968 taillights but i have no idea how much work it would take to graft that onto a 951... any labor estimates? i get good discounts at the shop on body work

That mod is definitely cool, but there's just something that I really like about the 944 rear end too. Until I'm rich I'll stick to performance mods, and then when I'm rich I'll just buy a 968 too.

I like the rear-end, but I have yet to see one done on a 2dr non-cabrio. I spoke to a couple people in the body shop business about grafting a 968 back end on to a 944. Long story short, if you have a hatch-back 944, it's not worth the trouble. On the cabrio, the top of the 968 rear panel lines up fairly nicely with the bottom of the trunk lid. On the hatch, it lines up with (more or less) the top of the tail lights. This makes for a lot of work to blend it in, also the flaring of the quarter panels is different, and as you probably noticed in those pictures of the converted 944, it creates a line that continues to the back of the rear wheel well. You will need some fancy rocker panels to continue this line, otherwise it will look just plain ackward. Now you could trim the sides off the 968 rear end, and perhaps blend it in a little better, but I am not certain how that would be done. The people I spoke to quoted me just shy of 30 hours to graft a 968 rear end in, and paint it, but that doesn't mean it will look good, lol.

Oh and I think you can prolly figure out that I don't do mornings real well either just based on the fact that I'm still up now posting. I got up early that day because it seemed like that was the best time for Taso, and he was looking at the car for free and everything so I got up specially for that.

I have personally seen two different 944's with 968 backends. (One black turbo, and one red N/A)
I know of another three - and I'm sure there dozens more that I don't know of.
