Default Waterpump possibly "Wurring"?

I've noticed my engine is making a wurring sound, and I can't place
where from. From experience I'm thinking it sounds like a waterpump
that's slowly failing, but mine was done just this last spring.

Any suggestions as to what I might check out?

Anything I should look for?

I'm not sure how. I just posted a question about that a few minuts ago.
They were both done last spring, along with the water pump.

What kind of water pump was used? Was it a new unit, or rebuilt? Depending on the quality of the rebuilt units, they have been known to fail abnormally early. I paid extra for a new pump to avoid this. The only worthwhile rebuilt units are the ones the dealer sells.

Another possibility is that you have a worn roller or sprocket. Are you sure the noise is coming from the pump itself? Try taking a long screwdriver and placing the tip on each of the sprocket/roller bumps in the belt cover, and putting your ear to the handle like a stethoscope. Your sound may be coming from somewhere else.

Yeah, I'll try that trick. I should have thought of that myself.

I'm not sure about the waterpump. The PO replaced it, but couldn't find
the recept for it, and he didn't know if it was a rebuilt or new. I'm not
sure I can afford this right now, so I'm trying to diag it as best as I can
before doing anything.

To check belt tension properly you need a very expensive special Porsche tool. Your best bet is take it to a quality Porsche specialist shop (not neccesarily the dealer) and get them to check it. BTW, any shop that claims to be a Porsche specialist and does not have this tool should have you running away. Seriously.

Yeah, I know of two decent shops in Chicagoland, but neither are
anywhere near me. I'll have to call them and see whats what.
