EXACTLY WHAT MY TRANSMISSION IS DOING: third gear works if you hold it in, when shifting into fourth, the shifter kicks back against your hand like its being thrown out of third. when engaging third normally, and not easing and holding it in, it will simply pop out of third. when you go a little faster quicker, it will pop out. gears always want to grind, unless you really ease it, then hold it in third. broken third gear teeth? bent shift fork? im not real sure on the internals of this trans. bought a new one, but would like to repair original.

Guessing the dogs are worn or damaged, start looking for either a set of gears or a cheap box as it looks like your going to be swapping your box real soon, the best part is that it's an easy job, only takes a few hours and secondhand boxes are relatively cheap.
