Default Track time

I was speaking with a friend in Alabama and he suggested that I take my track out to TALLADEGA GRAN PRIX RACEWAY . This raceway is used by the Atlanta region SCCA and other car/ motorcycle groups.

So, I was thinking, perhaps we could get a group of rennlisters from GA, AL, and TN to go down there and have a DE/track day. I'd really love to get some track time and its a great track.

What do you think?

Go for it. We did an all day event last Friday, Nov. 29th.

We limited the group to 10 Vettes... allowing 3 on the track at a time! You still will get a lot of track time!!!

This is a short, technical track which is good for set-up and tuning... both you and the car.

If you need to fill out the grid... let me know... I'm sure I can get a couple of Z06'ers to join in!

Alex,

I love that idea. The AL SCCA had a driving school there a couple of months ago and everyone seems to really like that track. I've heard that its not too expensive either.
Keep me updated on when and how much. If I can swing it you can count me in.

Alex:
You may be better off going with a PCA or other club: if you rent out the track yourself, it will be much more expensive. (A typical 2 or 3 day PCA event runs around $200 - $250.)

Plus with clubs like PCA, novice drivers are given one-on-one in-car instruction.

Another track I suggest you look into is: Barber Motorsports Park (Birmingham, Alabama). http://www.barbermotorsports.com/ From what I've heard, it is a world class track. (and home of the Porsche Driving Experience).

Z,

Yes, I thought about Barber, but since it is so large, wouldn't it be more expensive?

Alex:
It depends on who is running an event.

If you want to rent a track yourself, I believe the cost is somewhere around $3,000 to $5,000! And they don't just rent a track to any Joe Shmoe, BTW.

I've been told that Barbers is about 5k-6k a day to rent that track. Every driving school that I've worked there was at least 450 for a 2 day event. But, its got to be worth it cause the tracked is booked for next year and some of the driving events have been turning people away. When the SCCA was at Talladega it was about 220 to 250 for the weekend, I think.
