Anyone running 4 of the same size snow tires on a 944 Turbo?
I am looking to put a set of snow tires on the phone dials that came with my 1986 951. It seems to be more cost effective to purchase 4 of the same tires - thus I am considering going with 205/55-16s all around rather than putting 2 on the front and 225/50-16s on the rear. Is anyone using 4 of the same snow tires on their 944? Any additional thoughts on doing this? Anyone have a set of 16" or 17" snows they are looking to get rid of in the NYC metropolitian area? Thanks for the comments -

To answer your question - No - I don't have the same size snow tires on my 944. There are a couple of reasons for this, the primary one being I prefer not to expose my baby to salt during the winter.
However, if you are planning to do this with your car, there is really no good reason you shouldn't. You will have a little more flexibilty in that you can rotate your tires front to rear, for example. And should you decide on a non-directional tire, you can rotate your tires through all four corners without bother.
You might look into Nokian tires for your winter needs. I can personally recommend the Hakka 2 (which I sell in your size for $151 each or the Nokian WR at $141 each). Naturally, the fact that you live in New York and I am in Michigan, makes it difficult for me to provide you with service. I can have these tires shipped to you though - should you be interested.
Best of luck.
