If you had WAY too much money, take Lamborghini's approach...

Mount the engine infront of the rear axle and have a transaxle drive it, then have a viscous coupler drive a secondary box up front. So you kinda have a transmission infront and behind the engine, but not really. Problem then is gear ratios...have to be EXACT or you will have one end dragging the other. Theoretically possible anyone? Here's the Murciélago's drivetrain layout...

FSTPRSH, did the engine just have output flywheels at both ends of the crank? I think the viscous clutch would give you alittle bit of leeway on gearing to the front. Very interesting...
