I have a really nice set of Calipers from my 1995 968, Factory finished in gloss black with "PORSCHE" inprinted in them in white lettering.
These are a nice upgrade in terms of looks if you have better wheels where you can see the calipers, and also (especially up front) Much better and bigger brakes. All you will need to finish the conversion is a set of 968 brake rotors ( the cheapest place i have found is Vertex Auto 1 . 866 . 668 . 0660 )

Hmmm: I was planning on getting new calipers this winter...

Question: is there a lot of crud build-up between the caliper and 'holder spring?'

No, they are not the M030 sport package calipers.
And they are very clean, not much of anything built up anywhere
