Found a nice 87 944S Guards Red for sale locally
Hey all,
I don't know who's looking, but if you are wanting an "S", I may have found one. It's in Kingsport, TN. I saw it last night driving through town there and stopped to look it over. Not a huge amount of light to look at it, but here is what I saw/noticed about it.
Guards red over black with what looks like a full leather interior, everything looked stock on it that I could tell, paint looked good with some stone chips up front (what 944 with a few miles on it doesn't have some...) with phone dials and the factory locks that looked nice as well. Car looked very clean and well taken care of, was sitting with several phone numbers on a private for sale sign.
Anybody interested in me finding out any more? One of those more rare "S" models.
I don't know mileage or price, being Thanksgiving I've been gone all day and I didn't have a chance to even think about calling on the car today, but I will tomorrow to get some other details.

Okay, here at the details
(hey, I think you copied my name just about....hehe )
This car is a 1987 Guards Red over Black Leather interior car that has just turned over 48k miles. The current owner is the second owner of the car, purchased about a year ago from the original owner when he adopted several kids at once and needed a van instead of a Porsche. The current owner is selling to get a 350Z (his wife can't drive a straight and wants a sporty car to swap back and forth with her hubbie in).
When he purchased it, the car hadn't been driven much for several years and upon driving it the first time, apparently they had a problem and it blew a rad hose (or the belt broke it sounds like to me) and damaged the head. He put a new one on through the local Porsche dealership and did all the needed maintenance at the time he tells me and he has the records on this as well. I believe most Porsche dealers have like a 2-year warranty on repairs so this might be covered by a new owner if they will transfer it.
A picture is forthcoming to be posted, anyone wanting further info can let me know here, by email or by a PM. I'd be happy to go drive it or to take it for a PPI as the dealership is like 2 miles from where it's sitting and the place I got mine PPI'd in the area is about 4-5 miles from there.
Dang it....I forgot to ask him what he was asking for it....I sent him an email about that and for the pic. Will post as soon as I have it. Again, for his privacy since it's not an online ad, anyone wanting his name and contact info, please let me know and I'll send it to you.

Yes, there will be both pics and price as soon as I hear back from them. I am going to call them tomorrow again if I don't hear from them. He was supposed to email me back with the pics and price.
You know Jonas, there are undercover anti-thread hijacking agents roaming this board hehe

Okay....I got the pics and the price. He's asking a good bit much, IMHO though.....although he's just put $3K into the car for the head/maintenance stuff, still probably a good bit too much as I bought my 951 about 20 minutes from there for $9K, although it had more than twice as many miles.
He's asking $9500 for the car, has 47,800 actual miles on it. Here's the photos he sent over.....

Well, he's apparently had the car up for sale for a few months already. He's hoping to take care of that repair plus have a nice downpayment for that 350Z his wife wants. Still, I guess it would take somebody seriously looking and talking to the man to see what he might bargain down to. He might or might not be incredibly reasonable about it....somebody explaining things might help in getting the price down. I guess the other side is how bad he needs to sell it....
There was a fellow in the area with a 944S2 cab with about 30k miles on it a few years ago and that car was advertised in the local trading post for like 3 years off and on. He was asking 25k and last time I remember seeing it, still 22k. I looked in Excellence and elsewhere and $15-18k or maybe even 20k sounded good, but I think as cars are less costly here that his wife wanted him to sell it and he would post it for well more than he knew he'd get just to get her off his back as posting ads then was free unless you sold the item....hehe

$9500 is a bit much for an S. And I am guessing the original rubber centered clutch is still in there...and getting more fragile by the minute!
Otherwise, the car looks sweet, and has really low miles on a rebuilt engine...Bet it would sell in a minute for $7k
