Question Lowering the 944

All,

I am looking to change the springs and shocks on my 83 944. I want to go with Koni single adjustables. What are common springs to upgrade to? Eibachs, H&R, etc? I want to lower it slightly...about an inch.

Thanks.

I have the welts. I picked up 250# ones for my early 924 that died,
so I figure I'm going to put them into my 924S. I'm just really concerned
about how to lower the rear! I'm not sure I'm up to indexing the torsion
bars!!

You can always "adjust" the rear down an inch or so with the eccentric bolts. I'm not sure of the proceedure on that, so you'll have to wait for someone a bit more knowledgable to respond...

CT944 - depends on what your ultimate goal and price budget is. i installed weltmeister 200# springs on my previous 951, which brought it down about an inch, then lowered the rear by adjusting the trailing arm eccentric. it gave a nice look, but the ride height was not adjustable. the springs were $110 a pair, plus the price of the struts and installation.

on my current 944S, i just installed the adjustable ride height kit from paragon products with hypercoil 275# springs over new koni yellow struts. i installed the KLA coilover shocks in the rear which also have a ride height adjustability. the car is now adjustable for ride height, shock stiffness (front and rear) and rear sway bar. cost for all of this was about $1400 (installed myself). so you have multiple options, just depends on your budget and what you use your car for.

Here's the procedure to lower the rear:

It takes about an hour to do, at most..

Good luck!

Are there before-and-after pictures for the eccentric bolt adjustment anywhere?

Thanks-

I'll take some before and afters when I do mine. As soon as I figure
out and puchase my new Torque wrench, I'm going to adjust the
Eccentric Bolt while I'm installing my sway bar!!

Joseph, I just want a lower look. I do not drive the car daily. I want this car to have an agressive stance. I am thinking Koni yellows and Weltmeisters. Where is the best place to buy online?

That's great Bogie, except stock in the US *isn't* stock.

They raised the rear to match us bumper height regulations.
