Default Where to get this shifter!!

I have a '86 951 and REALLY want to upgrade my shifter/steering wheel ASAP. I LOVE this shift, will it work for my car? Would I need to do anything to make it fit right or is it direct connect in? The bottom is round and in my car it is squared in all the corners, so is there anyway it will work?? Thanks

Mike - I have that shifter in mine. You will need a new 944 boot and a ton of elbow grease as you stretch the leather onto that ****. It can be done, but it is a lot of work.

Got one here too. I had a ghetto boot made up by some leather guy, it's not nearly as nice as Brians but gets the job done

No, it pops right on. There are two sort-of rubber band like things around the shifter that have to come off or it won't fit, but other than that, plug'n'play. I've been thinking of cutting a small piece off the shifter to lower the **** just a bit though...

For those who do have them, where did you get those shifters??
Are they OEM for another car?

It's a Boxster item. I want to say '99 but I'm not sure.

not 99 boxster, at least not stock. The 99 boxsters have the same shifters we have.

996 six speed. I think that the Boxster "S" has it too. I also drilled a small hole in the botton of the **** piece and threaded a hole in the shift lever and screwed it on.

No more money for car parts.........must have.....must have....

Maybe I can wait. Might be adding the 996 to the shifter in the winter.
