Default Windshield trim loose

The rubber trim around the windshield separated and came loose from the fender up to the curve in the roof and started flapping in the breeze. i tucked it in but it won't stay put. It apears to fit into a channel in a lower seal, I am inclined to use adhesive but that would be permanent. I can't find anything in archives. Any ideas, it's a 85.5

Go to your local auto parts store and buy "silicone sealant" in either variety, clear or black. It's a runny glue that smells acetic.

Be sure to clean underneath the loose trim area, removing as much of the loose old sealant or dirt. Apply the new sealant sparingly and park the car with something heavy over the newly glued windshield trim, like some old phone books.

Any excess can easily be trimmed off when the stuff dries.

Hmm apparently everything that happens to our cars never happens to one person at a time. The seal on my car came loose from the left sidejust yesterday and it hapened to the other side a few months back. I just glued it back on with black silicone.

It happened to mine too, a 1.5 foot section on top of the windshield on the drivers side I just cleaned under it really well then dried it out with a hair drier and used black RTV silicon. Was this the best method? I don't know but it was the only solution me a several car buddies could come up with.

I am the winner =) Mine is sitting in my back seat after it came out on the highway a couple weeks ago. Once it was out, I noticed all the gaps in the seal where my windshield leaks. Can I remove the plastic channel the trim fits into without damaging anything? If I do, can I use the same silicone to re-attach it?
