Default Early fuel rail adapter???

Hey Troops,

I previously posted about my leaky fuel rail issues, and brother Granadiers, hooked me up with an early rail from a '83, (my car is an '84 N/A 944) I went to install it yesterday..... And oh crap, come to notice they are different!

The '84 (left) has the fuel return built into the rail, the '83 has the return coming out of the pressure dampner..... So here in my issue....
What I need to make this work is a "90 degrees ball seat, male to male adapter..... The thread pitch is the same on the bottom of the dampner, and on the return hose..... Does anyone make this fitting which will make my "83 fuel rail, work in my troublesome "84???

Your best bet would be to get an 84 or 85 fuel rail. I know they aren't cheap but it'd be easier and probably cheaper in the long run than trying to piecemeal the 83 to the 84. The 83 uses a different damper than the 84 (and also has a hard line coming off it that's missing on your donor 83 rail). As well, the 83 uses different clips to hold the injectors into the rail. If they aren't on the donor rail, good luck finding them (discontinued from Porsche and nearly impossible to find without a rail attached).

^^^ +1 what royalschwarz said.

Get the fuel rail for your model year and don't fit an adapter. Last thing you want to do to the fuel system in the engine bay is introduce another point of possible failure.

You also might try going to a hydraulic or Aeroquip dealer. They may have a metric union that you could use . Take both pieces with you when you go so you can get the right sized parts . Good luck in advance.

Hey Guys,

Thanks for the help...... I did buy the pricey one off eBay..... My 944 has been down for two
Weeks and I'm going through withdrawal! This car is as addictive as drugs..... (And damn near as expensive!) , but it does keep me outta trouble..... Ya never see a 944 in front of a psychologist's office!

Thanks much for the advise.... And 944vaguy.... Thanks much for the offer!

This piece is for a late fuel rail, from '86 on. It's not relevant to the early cars. See the description in the link below:
