I just installed an S2 trans for the same reason. You think you don't have any power at se-level, you should try it out where I live (7200 ft elev.). The S2 transmission has a lower ring and pinion and it really makes a nice improvement in the low end.

But...Some say the trans isn't as strong as the turbo's while other say it is. I know that there are a few others running them with turbo's, so I decided to give it a try.

Most cams do nothing for low end. Almost all shift the power band up. Actually, virtually nothing suggested in this thread does anything for low end. Rob has a good idea if you are not going to make a lot of HP.

You mentioned exhaust already - definitely get the cat out of there.

Are you running any type of aftermarket chip?

Shave the head to freshen up the compression. Even decking within factory rebuild specs, wakes up the bottom end. How is the condition of the motor? If you have a flat cylinder, it will feel dog slow at low rpms.

The S2 gearing (ring/pinion) will make it feel quicker (and it will actually be, at the sacrifice of top speed)

Lighten the flywheel. Not so much that it will stumble off the line, but a little to get a better throttle response.

If you still need more, then your looking at custom engine work ($).

The stroker motor should help.

EEK.

I think the only thing to do is to reduce the final drive ratio. You do loose top end, but how often will you go 130mph+?

P.S. gas mileage may be reduced as well. I had a 280Z with a 4.11 final drive. It was a blast! 3.5K at 80 mph was not.

The sad thing is, someone actually thought that 951 looked good like that! Is that a dodge avenger bottem end 0of the bumper??? Thats not cool. and sh*t, did anyone notice that wing in back. There some people that need to be taken out back and shot for that travesty of a Porsche.

As for low end horsepower, if you have the money, get the Strker kit, 2.8 liter. Or you can even go with the 3.0 block. Could be fun!
