cooling fans run whenever ign sw on -- xpost from PP
As the title explains, both fans run on high whenever the ign sw is on...A/C sw on or OFF.
What I've done:
-finally decided to deep dive into the A/c and get it cooling properly. After replacing the
leaking compressor and expansion valve and drier, I have nice cold air.
- replaced the high pressure sw (I broke the darned thing)
After the work, the cooling fans are on as stated,
- fixed the corroded wires at the resistors
-replaced the thermo switch on the radiator (it broke when I tried to remove the plug)
-Replaced cooling fan relay after troubleshooting the relay per clarks..indicated bad .
(Fans not slow when jumped and ign on)
Still have the problem.
Where to next??? I'm out of ideas.
Any help appreciated.
Thanks,
Bruce
update.........symptoms:
-Hp sw installed and connected--fans run hi a/c sw on or off
-Hp sw installed but unplugged
-ign sw on -- no fan, a/c sw on..both fans low
-car running, a/c on , fans low, compressor cycles
-coolant heats to mid point, fans on hi
-coninue to just shy of red on temp gauge--fans hi, engine off but ign
sw on ign sw off, fans low for 3-4 min then shutoff. Temp guage
reads 3/4
Still having problem. Extensive trouble shooting leads me to believe all the wiring is good. Pucks ohm and volt good.
Curious as to why the hi press sw tests the way it does. With the hp sw on the bench, I get no continuity (as it should be, I think). With hp sw installed, I get continutiy indicating the hp sw it closed. The car is cold and not running. The sw should be open at this time if my understanding is correct because the system pressures are static ~80 psi.
Am I missing something?
