Ignition rotor removal
I'm running into a problem removing the ignition rotor on my 87 924s. I've got the set screw out but I can't get the rotor off. I tried gently tapping it as suggested in Haynes but unfortunately some of the plastic on the rotor broke. I've put PB blaster in the set screw hole. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Well push did come to shove. I had to completely break off the bakelite. I then put a wrench on the brass remnant of the rotor and turned it while using a screw driver to pry it off. It's the first time I've replaced a rotor on a 924 and it just went against the grain to break the existing rotor to remove it, particularly given the cost of the new one. I was also hoping to keep the old one as a spare. Anyway the problem is solved and the car is up and running.

for future reference (and future searches) there are two screws you could remove to get the rotor out.
the little allen head holding the rotor to the "sleeve" and then a 7 or 8mm hex-head bolt holding the sleeve to the camshaft collar.
