Hi all, I just picked up a 85 944 with some stickers that say rally edition on the fender by the door. I could not find any info on it. As far as I can tell there is nothing else left I can see that's not normal for a 944. Anybody know anything about this Rally edition? Or is it something the dealer or someone put on?

It does have a 715 option code which I did not see any info on.

I figured as much. the 715 code on the tag in the trunk made me think it could be something weird.

Rally edition is just a sticker.

Code 715 is "internal production code PV-U pilot run." Supposedly all early 85 cars have it; and it denoted such cars serving as a test for the new polyvinyl undercoating.

Apparently it was dropped halfway through model year 85, as it became standard (but could be deleted).
