Default Unexpected Soon To Be 914 Owner

Long story made short, I have been looking for a 911 for about a year and the other day a good buddy called and said "you're looking for a Porsche right?" I replied "yes, a 911". He proceeded to tell me his father in law had a 914 2.0 in his garage that he bought new in 1974 and drove it occasionally and took immaculate care of it until one day 16 years ago when he parked it in his 6 car garage and put the cover on it. Been there ever since. Offered it to me for a steal (I think). I have yet to see it or pics but I'm picking it up sometime next week. Excited!!

Should be fun bringing it back to life. I know from experience what gas that old will smell and "look" like!! Good luck!!

I stopped and shot the breeze with the owner of a local VW custom restoration shop today and he was really helpfully about what to expect. Although he isn't sure the shops lifts are compatible with the 914 frame he offered to take a look at it on my way home from picking it up. I'm even more exited now!! Really hoping it isn't a total dog.

he can put the lift arms under the four jacking donuts at the four corners of the floor pan and lift it with ease!

Ah, the old "it ran when parked" story.....

Look for rust under the battery tray, in both trunks, in the cockpit and every where else. If it has the oem FI, it hasn't been molested.....much.

If you have questions feel free to ask, I have BTDT......

The good news is that the 914 is the next 356.

Thanks!

The owners wife is in the hospital right now so I'm not pushing to hard pick up the car. It will be there.

I'm good friends with the family so it will happen, just screws with my "NEED NOW" OCD mentality!!

we have the lower patch panel for the door, but you should look thoroughly at the rust condition
