Default Oil tank or not?

As posted on the email lists:

Debate time:

Is it possible to run a six conversion with out an oil tank. If the oil
cooler is big enough to hold @10 quarts of oil wouldn't that suffice? I'd
remove the Mocal and just let the oil run through the cooler all the time.

Thoughts?

Flame suit on...

I don't know how aerated the oil would be going directly into the cooler, which may inhibit cooling. Also when the oil is cold it may not flow well back into the engine through a restrictive cooler.

No flame here, good ideas can be unconventional.
