I don't think the sway bars were std in '74 either.. and yes, those rear bumper **** are UGLY. Removed the front ones on my '73 when I had the bumper rechromed and filled in the holes...

They can be almost the same.
In '73, the 2.0 came standard with the Appearance Group (chrome bumpers, vinyl on side sail panels, center console, etc.) and Sports Package (sways, Fuchs, etc).
To try to keep the base price low in '74, Porsche made the Appearance Group and Sports Packages optional. So a base '74 2.0 would have come with black painted bumpers, no center console, no sways, no Fuchs, etc.
But if a buyer checked the Appearance and Sports options, the '74 would have been almost identical to a '73.
The only differences would be the '74 came with a fake stitched steering wheel and the rear bumper nubs.
By late '74, Porsche changed some of the minor interior trim pieces. The gauges went to the black centered needles instead of chrome, and one or two other very minor things (the interior ventilation vents looked a little different).
Although they are 98% similar, my personal preference would be a fully loaded late '74 2.0.
