Not sure if the factory manuals are available anymore. I've had mine (12 binders worth) for over 40 years with updates to the '76 models. Suppose you could look in the PCA MART etc, or maybe they're available in pdf form. I like holding the real deal if I'm in the shop, not having to look at a computer screen.
Using the wiring diagrams right now while reassemblying the '73. Couldn't do it without them, or my '71 as a template!

found wiring diagrams and a write up on fuel injection on the tech section of RL.
I have an old laptop for the garage with the 928 WSM. but also prefer the paper version, and often print sections of the 928 manual when working.
and just got an email reply from one of the local PCA guys I know who races a 914. had WSM, spares, and knowledge.
doesn't get any better than that.

if you do find the WSM on PDF I would still be interested.
he tries to keep his WSM clean, so makes copies of sections to take to the garage. he is not too far away if I get desperate.

I have the following that I can let go now that Ive moved on- complete set of 914 service manuals vols 1-9, the 2 spare parts catalogues 1-6 and 7-L as well as the 914/6 specific service vols 1-2. All in excellent condition. But as you noted, they arent cheap. These are almost too nice to use.

in the process of trying to rebuild a rear caliper for a 76 2.0 for a friend.
one from the car was badly corroded/rusted and frozen. the guy got a used one pictured below that appears decent, along with a rebuild kit.
got a couple 914 books, but not the WSMs. when starting to work on the used caliper found this little widget in a recess on the side where the emergency brake actuator is. no bolt holding it in, just came out using a small pic. looking down inside I see a small opening on the side where the emergency brake actuator is connected. tried pulling on the lever and it moved but could not see anything acting inside the hole/resess.
the old one from the car does not have a bolt or anything in the recess.
started reading about these brakes, and did find when turning the bolt on the other side of the caliper the piston moves in and out as described for adjusting clearance. need to read more, but.
anyone know what this is? is it just missing a bolt or something?
thanks for the advice.
