Remember to clean and lube the clutch cable!!
Guilty of not listening to my own advice... haven't cleaned and lubed the clutch cable for a while. It's really not that dirty as I'm pretty **** about the undercarriage as well as the topside, but my son drove it to work today and I got a call about 4:30 this afternoon saying he was stranded in heavy traffic with a clutch pedal to the floor... thank God we have a trailer!
After we loaded the car, luckily rush hour traffic was over and after walking up and down the road a couple times, we found the end with the metal clevis and retaining bolt!!! Thank the Lord for small favors...
Lesson? CLEAN and LUBE the pulley!!!!!!

Plastic pulley on the right rear side of the transaxle- held on by 17mm nut. Also replace that flimsy factory plastic clevis on the clutch arm with a metal aftermarket one. Can't remember who makes it but should be at one of the 914 vendors. Got mine 30 some years ago so that's why I walked up and down the street to find it, still attached to 6 frayed inches of the end of the cable!!
Wish someone made a metal aftermarket pulley that would work! Anyone???
