Default HELP! Lost Part...

Misc parts went out for powder coating, and were picked up about two months ago. I installed the gas tank last Friday, and discovered that what Porsche calls a "bridge" in the PET, is missing (I'm pretty sure that it went out with the powder coating).

The bridge is the small, tapered, metal support piece that sits on top of the gas tank under where the two sections of gas tank retainer strap connect. And I need one. Please let me know if you have one! Thank you.

Don't have one, but I bet Rich at HPH has one.

Mine is plastic... But my car is a 75. Check with Bruce Stone too... He's in Riverside and has just about everything you can imagine 914 wise.

Plastic??? Hmmmm, maybe I'm not remembering correctly. I can remember holding the part, but that's about it - could'a sworn mine was steel.

How do I find Bruce Stone?

My car is a 72 and I think it's plastic too now that I think about it. It's put away, so I can't check easily.

Damn! That part might be plastic, which would explain why the tank doesn't have any scratch/gouge marks on it. If you have an extra PLEASE let me know.

Oh sorry Peter, I thought everyone knew Bruce. The only way I know of getting a hold of him is to go to 914World.Com and PM him. His screen name is BDStone914

WHEW! Found one, just got a call back from Auto Atlanta - $9.00.

RR; I'll put that screen name in my file - thank you!

LOL, skl...it's plastic! And no, I can't find it, so I was guessing it was metal and didn't come back (it's been at least a couple of months since I had the sheet metal done). I'm happy about it, because I like our local powder coating guys!

Just got my replacement bridge; it is definitely plastic. And, no, "my original" has not shown up! Oh, well, problem solved; for those not sure which part we're talking about...

Just as a FYI - buying anything from AA is a deal with the devil. Watch your credit card, they will probably charge you 5 times and refuse to help you.

+1, I wouldn't give them any business if they were giving things away.

I had to deal with an incorrect part sent to me, which involved a core charge and a follow-up shipment of the correct part. I was billed for the incorrect part, and the correct part, and the core charge. I kept track of all of the invoices and shipping/tracking numbers, and instead of just taking care of the problem it took three phone calls from me to them to get it solved. During that process I took note that they keep the CC on file, because, on a subsequent order, I asked them if they needed the number and was told no. On a positive note, a follow-up order was handled properly, no secondary charges have appeared on my CC statement, and they did, eventually, fix the initial problem.
