If your looking to do a 6 cylinder I would stay with a aircooled 6 . After that I would look at the subaru turbo with the boost cranked up.

I am sure the 3.2 boxster is a good engine but I have read enough story's about its weak points that the hassle is just not worth it.

I am sure others will chime in

It's been done. Very wide motor. The 4 mounts have to be removed. Transmission?

i would also go with the 911 motor, there is a lot of plumbing that goes into putting a Boxster motor in.

Motor and Trans also it is going to be a semi tube chassis
the reason i wanted to go with a water cooled engine is that i can buy a wrecked boxter at a good price and it has all the wiring ecu and all that i am going to need
Thanks for all your reply

There's some guys down in Australia who did it. I recall seeing a post about it over on Pelican's forum.

I would love to see one. The Water cooled motors have some huge advantages over the 993 motor.
-HP and Torque
-Cheaper $$$
-Lighter weight
-The 6 speed trans are stronger and shift a lot better then the 915 and cost a lot less.
-No external oil tank needed.
Just to list a few
I think that a water cooled 914/6 is not staying true to its original design but it is getting close and It would be neat to see and drive one built with the same quality that Porsche is know for.
If one was built correctly, I can only imagine that it would be like driving a 300+ hp boxter S with 800lbs less weight to throw around. WOW! What a car it would be.

I would think you would need to build in a lot of extra protection or just be 110% sure not to get into an accident with it. These cars aren't exactly known to have bullet proof bodies.
