Default 914 Newb

Hi guys,

I have recently started thinking about joining the Porsche family again. I had a 77 924 back in 1993 when I was 19 and I wrecked it. I really miss driving that car. There was also a guy that graduated a few years after I did that had a 914. I really liked his car and I have been crusing craigslist for a project. I have also seen 3 914 in my neighborhood so the 914 fever seems to be growing.

Back in the day I used to get a Tweeks catalog. Are they still around and can you still get repro body panels for the 914? I have been luking for a few days and trying to read as much as possible. Other than the rust behind the seats and rust under the battery tray causing suspenion problems what should I look for?

Thanks for any input.

Jason

This forum is more or less dead. You should go over to 914 club - it's much more active. Coming from the 928 forum here on rennlist I was pretty surprised how slow this one is. Note my first thread - you'll see it down below. It's been here on the front page for several months (with no new posts since February!)

x2 on RL being a bit "slow" for 914 news... 914world and 914club are lively. Pelican ain't bad either. I tried to spark it up but just couldn't sustain it.

The issue with 914World/914Club is that most are the same posts on TWO boards. That gets annoying too.

What to look for? Rust (as you said).. look EVERYWHERE.. Under seals (trunks, doors etc), rear trunk, front trunk, Longitudinals/rockers, hell hole, behind the seats (and/or base of engine compartment fire wall).
