Heck, everyone these days seems to have 911RS clones as the real 911RS are very collectible. But that's just everyone following the leading Lemur. The trick is to have an even more exclusive car for less money.
Its all about timing. I know someone in the 1970s who bought a 356 America Roadster for a relatively small sum because no one wanted this car. This was a rare (1 of 16 or so) cars produced. I was told it sold recently for a mid 6 figure amount. A 914-6GT is equally rare. No reason to think it won't become worth more in the future. After all, they aren't making any more of them are they?

Weren't there only 10 of these cars built?
Edit: Maybe I am thinking of the 916.

.
A bit over the top for a car that has no period race history.
It should have a premium because it is an original factory GT but we have to let the market decide if it is really worht that much.
If it is I'm fitting the fender extensions to mine next week !!.

Well very nice 914/6's are going for $45-60K these days. The gentleman that owns the GT is an extremely knowledgeable collector. The market will decide what these are worth, it's that simple.

Isn't it a factory GT? If so it is one of 49. On second look it is a factory test mule. I read about this car in Excellence. It has almost no mileage. What it does have is road race mileage. Bruce Cannepa is selling the Lufthansa car for a $275K asking price. I suspect it is worth every penny.
Not everyone is living in a bad economy. For some it is a bit of an opportunity period. The Euroollar exchange is still favorable as well...
