Allright here's the scoop"
I have a set of American Racing black four spoke wheels. 15inches of course. Now these were on the car when it was white and they looked good. Then I had the opportunity to buy original 4 lug fuchs wheels. I know these are very popular. I bought them and put them on the car and they do look real good with the green paint. Today I dusted off the old black wheels to get ready to sell them. Now I'm not sure I want to. Because they may still look real good on the car and the fuchs I believe are worth more to sell. All 8 wheels have the same size tires, which are virtually new.
What would you sell?

Do you value "originality" ? I had American mags on my car way back in the early 70's before I put on 914-6 hubs etc to go to 5 bolts and they looked good but had the wrong offset. The 4 lug Fuchs look good and probably are a much stronger and better wheel. Guess I favour the Fuchs...

I value originality to an extent. For example I removed the spoiler from the car, and the GT rocker panels (no GT fenders, looked ridiculous), and various other bits that made the car unoriginal. Other items stayed though, such as MSD ignition.
Is the Fuchs really a lot stronger?

Pretty sure the OEM Fuchs would be stronger than an aftermarket wheel of the same era. Just look at the casting especially from the inside- compare the two.

I say sell the Fuchs. Keep the other wheels, if you like the look of them. After market wheels usually look good on 914s. And the money from the Fuchs can go towards another project.
But, if you plan on tracking the car a lot, I'd feel safer on the Fuchs... For street driving and the occasional autocross, the after market wheels will be fine.
