I found some old pictures from when I was working on my 914. I scanned them in, and thought I'd share them.

First, what the driver's side rocker panel looked like when I got home:

As I stripped paint and looked for rust, I found places like these two - a previous repair (that I never figured out the reason for) to the bottom of the roll bar, and the rust resulting from a large pile of pine needles collecting ontop of a headlight (note front bumper mount - or lack thereof):

The floor, especially under the driver's seat, was also in need of some attention. The outboard seatbelt mount was bolted to nothing but carpet! All the the metal had rusted away...

Here's a picture after I welded in MANY sheetmetal patches:

After about a year, the body was sound. I had to move (to an apartment that had a garage!) and drove it like this: (Much to my surprised, I got pulled over -- actually, I expected to get pulled over, so I made sure all my paper work was in order. Much to my surprise I was ticketed! But they were all bogus, and the judge dismissed them all.)

Wow! looks like a lot of work. Luckily my car was relatively rust free. Although, the battery box is a problem.
