OK, so the 914 made it down to NH last night from Kennebunk, Maine (thanks Dad). Anway, Matt Romanowski and I set right in on it to see if we could save the really badly faded paint job on the car. The previous owner had said it needed to be repainted, but since the car only 22K on it I wanted to keep it as original as possible.
Well, Matt and I buffed, polished, polished and waxed and I am very please to say that the paint is coming back! I will have to get Matt to post some pics since it is at his house. I am going back over tonight to put some more polish on it and see what else I can get out of the paint.
Here is an interesting question. Some dumb *** put on a deck lid badge on the front hood in place of a Porsche badge and put it on with some kind of silicon. I got most of the silicon off with a razor blade, but I can't get it off the paint. Any ideas?

I drove the car today up to Concord, NH and back (about 75 miles) and it went really well. The car needs to be driven and I think the jets need to be cleaned. The valves also need to be adjusted. Thanks Matty for working with me on it.

I love 914s but I would never pay that much for a 914 1.7 or a 2.0! Just silly!

Well, the little 914 1.7 is put a way for its first winter in the Gratton house hold. I put it on some rollers and pushed it back in the corner of the garage. I am already looking forward to spring and winter hasn't even happened yet!!!!! - Jay

Jon,
Matt Romanowski has them. When he gets back from Las Vegas I will get them posted. If not I will get them myself. Sorry, your right it isn't fair since I said I would.

Bruce Anderson has to be smoking crack in his old age. Either that, or my definition of so-so is way off.

Maybe you guys can give me some advice. I'm trying to sell my 72 914-4. It has a 1911cc engine. The rust is at a minimum and it has very few things done to it that would be outlandish.

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/showthread.php?t=374920

I'd appreciate honest feedback.

Personally, I think the 3k price seems about right, and your car is interesting. I've seen one sell for 2.9k in a similar condition, and others in the 3-5 range around here. The cars without rust or mechanical issues go north of 7 pretty quick. You know these cars are love or hate for most which I'm sure limits the market as well. My wife can't understand why I want one I like your car, but my concerns are that I would like to eventually track it and fix the body which means I think I would be money ahead paying more for a cherry example. I would think you could get all of 3k on Ebay, as much as I hate to see you have to go through that! You are asking more of the experienced crowd on Rennlist and Pelican, so you get a more critical eye as well, thus the beauty of Evilbay. Good luck with the sale!

Without seeing more of the rust I would even think your low! I would try $4950/OBO to start. Great color! Wouldn't you agree Romanowski?
