While stripping paint ...
So I'm stripping paint off my car and I'm wondering how I would get the sticker with the VIN number in the door sill off without tearing or breaking it?

You can't... that is the purpose of the VIN Sticker. It self destructs when you attempt to remove it.
However, Auto Atlanta will sell you a replica, that looks pretty good... but you have to figure out how to punch out the VIN Code for your car, and the Date of Manufacture. I understand it can be done, with the right tools. You might want to buy more than one sticker... ;>))

I bet you could copy it if you knew someone with a laser.
Find a metal fab shop. it would be very simple to program I would not think it would cost too much either
