The 1.8 l is a different fuel injection system and I believe it has been unfairly maligned. It does need to be free of vacuum leaks to work well, but it does if it is. Just took mine out of winter storage yesterday and it fired up after 15 seconds cranking (stored for 7 months). Had a nice drive in the cool evening air. I am biased but talk to Brad - he has a 914 specialty store in Illinois, wish I could think of its name.
