If you ask Amazon this is what they tell you:
Most popular results for Porsche 914 :
1. The 914 Porsche: A Restorer's Guide to Authenticity -- by Johnson; Paperback
Our Price: $13.97
2. How to Restore & Modify Your Porsche 914 & 914/6 -- by Patrick C. Paternie, Patrick C. Pafernie; Paperback
Our Price: $17.47 -- Or buy used from $13.99
3. Porsche 914 4 Cy Owners Workshop Manual 1969-76 -- by John Harold Haynes, P. Ward (Contributor); Paperback
Our Price: $13.97 -- Or buy used from $8.95
Of these Paternie's book is a very good book to read and get ideas about your car. Johnsons books are boring but very useful if you're trying to get the details of your car right. The Haynes manual is great when you want to dissamble the car.
There best of the rest would probably be Brian Long's book which I find just OK.
The Brookfield "Gold Portfolio" which has the press reports of the car when it was new is good too. I'd recommend that.
So have fun,

I strongly recommend Pat Paternie's book. Quite frequently they keep one on the shelf at Barnes and Noble or Borders Books here in Calif. Check your local bookstore and you might find one their to flip thru before buying.
