Post 914-6 convertion

Can anyone give me a complete list on going from a 1.7 to 6. I am looking for everything from soup to nuts. I have the perfect doner car but, I wonder what is the best way to spend the my money.

Sure - here is a list including the SC front end and the GT Flares I did for my conversion. While I had many of the parts on hand (especially the core engine, 911 suspension, etc. - I tried to assign what the market price would be if I had to purchase them... HTH!!!

But you will never get the sound and performance of the /6 out of a /4. The /4 will be pushed to the limit at 2.5L for displacement and HP output. A /6 that will fit in a 914 can be pushed to 800HP and 4.2L. It requires megabucks to get that kind of performance. A 3.0L /6 in a 914 is a perfectly docile daily driver with a lot of grunt when needed. A 2.5L /4 will be a cantankerous beast that will have temprature problems and will require constant tweaking and maintenence.

Steve, after spending over $20K and more than 300 hrs building
a 2.4L 914/6 conversion, I would have to conclude
that if you want one (they are great cars!), buy
an original or a conversion someone else built! You
will save alot of time and money.....
