Advice please - A 914 as low cost daily driver?

Well, that all depends on what you're looking for. The 924/944 series had a pretty comfy ride, handled well, and were quite reliable(924 more so)
The 914 on the other hand, has a bit rougher of a ride, but tighter suspension and steering, and great handling that comes from the mid engined design. I would pick a 924 over a 914 or 944 for a daily driver, as I already have, but if I had a station wagon or minivan already, the 914 would be my choice, no doubt.
