Cool tire help

I am getting ready to buy tires for my 914 5-lug conversion...the wheels are 16x6/7 Fuchs. What I want to know is: does anyone have experience running the 7's on the rear? What size tire? I realize that I will have to "roll" the rear fender lip...and am perfectly willing to so. I really want to run 225's in back...can it be done? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

For the rear, you'll have to do more than just "roll" the fender lip. As long as it's not big deal then I say go for it.

For my car, I put the rims on and lowered the car down until the tire was almost touching the fender well. I had a few different sizes of wood, I started with a 1x2 and would place the wood between the tire and fender and hit the wood with heavy hammer, this would deform the fender and pull in out. Repeat until happy with the tire clearance.
