No power from 0-3000rpm's
I have a 1972 1.7 914 with a single Solex carburator(size unknown)and an Anza exhaust. At a dead stop, it is necessary for me to rev it up to at least 3000rpm's to get my car to go. Otherwise, the car will lug like a slug. From what I've read on prior posts, my particular engine size doesn't generally offer much horsepower. Can anyone suggest anything that I can do, other than having to buy a new engine, or do you feel it just needs a tune-up? Thanks.

Well as we all know the benefits of a good tune up are dollar for dollar the best hop up you can do for a car.
When you pull the plugs look to see if they are carbon fouled from running rich or incomplete combustion. I would also go through your carb and clean all the jets possible that you have a clogged air correction on the idle cicuit. Of course plug wires and the coil. points if you are still running those. Good luck and keep us posted. (when is the last time you changed the fuel filter?)
