1976 914 purchase question
I am contemplating the purchase of a 1976 914 in NJ for $9500. It is listed on Rennlist classifieds.
Has anyone here actually seen this car ? Your candid opinions and advice about the price and relative value of this car are gratefully appreciated.
The owner was very positive about the car. It is stock and does not have any modifications and seemingly has not had any major work due to the limited mileage.
I am very familiar with 924S/944TS but not 914s other that what Ive read here.

Personally I would have to think that car is WAY overpriced, although I haven't seen it so this is obviously a guess.
But, the most valuable 914/4 cars are generally the 73-74 2.0 cars. The best of breed in terms of power, options, and the 73's are smog exempt in California and probably some other states.
The 76 can be a nice car as well, although it is hampered a bit by the huge rubber impact bumpers and the added smog equipment.
A 914/4 either has to be extremely -- concours -- clean to go for prices in that ballpark OR it has to have significant mods, such as race prep, that justify the premium.
Out here in So Cal you'd rarely see a 76 914 over $5K in my experience. BUT, there are of course a lot of 914's out here relative to anywhere else in the country. It is unusual to see any 914/4 out here over $8K, and those are pristine cars.

I don't see it listed on the Rennlist. Where in NJ did you see this car?
