I am doing a complete restoration and six conversion. I was wondering what are the advantages of the 911 front end compared to the 914, of course with 911 struts you can get bigger brakes.

To add to Phil's list...
Torsion bars are different; different T-bar caps; 5-bolt hubs; wider selection of rotors (4 v. 5 bolt) depending on calipers;; later 911 suspensions have a sway mount that uses the rack rather then a "through the body" mount.. With all that - comes a wider selection of after-market and Porsche parts/wheel(s) availability...

is there any difference in weight? I was looking to go to 911 struts to get bigger brakes, used carrera struts for $350. the guy I talked to told me that they sell the whole carrera suspension including rotors and brakes for $700 double the price, but it seems reasonable considering the brakes.
