Post 2.0 liter crankshaft question

Last night I was outbid on e-bay for a 914 2.0 liter crankshaft. I think it finally went for about $170. A bit of searching this morning on my PET program and my VW ETKA program turned up a surprise which, I think, makes me happy I was outbid. PET shows the 2.0 liter crankshaft part number as 039.105.101 A. In the VW program, the crank for a '78 bus (Type 2 with Type 4 motor) is listed as part number 039.105.101 A, also. Hmmmm! A quick check of VW parts suppliers (like Bus Depot) reveals that a reconditioned bus crank of this part number sells for $54 exchange! It looks like I should be glad I was outbid. Do you folks agree that the 2.0 liter bus engine indeed has the same crank as a '74 914 2.0 liter? Remember, the part number is exactly the same.

Yup. The bus crank and the 914 2L crank are the same. I purchased mine 2L crank from DRP Machine freshly counterweighted, balanced, and nitrided for less than what that auction went for. Wow! Don't you just love those deals on ebay :-)

Take care,

Yes, I was also outbid <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" />
Where would I go and find one of those reconditioned cranks? I should find out this weekend if I need it for sure.

I think DPR Machine Inc.'s phone # is (714) 979-7441. At least that's what my address book shows.

The 2.0l cranks are 914 parts hence the 039 part number. The 914 cranks were finished better but otherwise the same. You want one? I have one for sale.
