What kind of tires do you run on your 914?
Opinions on Yokohama AVS ES 100 tires?
Anybody have any experiences with these tires?
I'm buying a set of 205-60-15 for my 914.
What are the rest of yas runnin?

I run Kuhmo VictoRacer 700's - 205/50x15's. The car is primarily a track car but is driven to and from the track on the street. The tires are terrific. However they are not the best choice for rainy areas. Their tire life is short too. I usually get one season per set.

I run 205/60R-15 Dunlop <a href="http://tires2.digiknow.com/dunlop/display_tire.jsp?prodline=Sport+A2&mrktarea=Performance&treadwidth=205&a spectratio=60&rimdiameter=15&sidewall=" target="_blank">SP Sport A2's</a> and the price just couldn't be beat.
If you need an all-season tire with a great ride and nice handling, you could do worse.

Yokohama AVS ES 100 tires are stickey gooey (yes thats a great thing!) and low cost! a great tire!
also check out the Bridgestone Potenza S-03 Pole Position, those are great too, lil more expensive though.
also check out Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3. are about the same price as the bridgestones. (know the least about these, but seem like good tires for their cost and from reviews on tire rack)
these are all max performance, summer only tires though. im considering these 3 for my 912. will probably go with the yokohama's b/c of price, but for $5 more a tire, the bridgestones are looking great too.
never had any experience with any of these, but all i hear from the 912 guys are that these tires are great (especially the yoko's and some about the bridgstones)

A 195/60-15 is equivalent in diameter to a 165/70-15, but it has a wider profile and will fit on stock rims inside stock fenders no problem. You shouldn't have any speedometer error issues.
Tires now-a-days are a LOT better in design and performance than what came as OEM in the '70s, and there are a few of us who have no problem whatsoever breaking loose even 205/60-15's, even with a stock engine!

Mounted the Yokos this past weekend and the performance is quite good. Handling is definitely improved over the 195 65 15s I was running. These Yokos are probably the best price deal around from Tirerack.com. I priced the same tires locally around Portland, OR and dealers were selling at 100 - 110 per tire. Tire Rack sells at 75 each. Only $38 to UPS 4 of them to me with 2 day delivery.
I will be looking at the Eagles and the Potenzas next time around although I am very satisfied with theez.

wow, great looking 14! i got the 912 cause it was in such great condition (i was lokin at both 12s and 14's at the time) i love both. i will never part with mein 912, but some day, im gonna get me a 14, bore the engine to about 2.8 wide body kit etc... those sob's can handle like no other. beautiful car man!

How are you guys breaking loose 205 series tires? I'm afraid to engage any gear roughly because of what I've heard about the transmissions being fragile, my synchros are already almost gone on 1st and 2nd.
Or if you were talking about breaking loose in a corner, then I stand corrected. I've gotten the tail to wag quite enough a couple of times when I was a little too hot going into a corner.

I really like the way it handles now with the new tires. I bought this car from a guy that had a used car lot way out in the boonies and he had it garaged for 7 years while restoring it. The paint and body were in good shape. He actually painted it with a fair job of laquer and it has lasted well. I am getting some cracking on the front trunk lid though. Paint will be the next major project now that it runs smooth and the wheels are done.
Your 12 sure does look sharp!
