Question used 914 question

hello all, i found a 914 in th local paper for sale. asking price is $1500 for a non- running car with auto transmission. i don't know much about 914's ,and even less about the Porsche auto-tranny. is this worth my time to pursue ....or should i run very, very fast?

thanks

By automatic you must mean sportomatic which isn't a real automatic but a manual with a torque converter. VERY rare- might be worth something just for the sportomatic parts. There was just an article about a sportomatic 914-6 in Execellence last month- that was a REALLY rare car. There was never a true automatic in a 914, thankfully.

If it is a sportomatic, I would think it's worth every penny of $1500. There are people who would kill for a sporto....

yes, as there were about 10 sporto 914/6's made and 4 914 prototypes. One a custom guy made a goofy trike out of....he needed a semi auto tranny rear engine platform so he found one to chop up.

If its one of the 4 or 6 cars its very rare. There are a couple of disabled guys looking for these cars so they to can enjoy driving a 914.
