Default 914/6 and master cylinders

I have a '76 3.2 conversion track rig, S calipers front w/ 19mm MC, 914/6 rear, Hoosiers etc. The brakes are lacking at the track. Is there a larger MC, or am I looking at 4 pot calipers up front ? This thing is very fast, need more brake to brake later. Thanks.

Jim:

"S" calipers are far from ideal for these applications due to their inherent caliper flex and a car like yours with a 3.2 really needs something much bigger for track usage.

Brake choices depend on what diameter wheels you are using, but a 930 brake upgrade works VERY VERY well on these cars.

There are 16" Fuchs/Compomotive 3 piece wheels on the car, so 930 or the Performance Products Brembo kit should fit on the '87 struts. Thanks.

If you decide on the Brembo's, you'll need the GTP-L's since the larger GTP's require 17" wheels.

Don't forget to install a 23mm MC with ANY of these brake upgrades.

23mm, is that a Porsche or Mercedes part ? I went to your site to see about the 930 option and it specifies "S" struts. Is that a strut that fits "S" calipers and later ?

The 23mm MC is an ATE item and fits a multitude of vehicles.

Indeed, any brake upgrade requires struts with the 3.5" mounting hole spacing and that includes "S", SC, or Carrera struts.
