Default Door latch assembly- source?

Some springs finally gave up the ghost after 33 years (luckily didn't happen on a vintage car tour I was on a month ago!) on my original owner '71 914. Where can I find the whole assembly to replace or maybe just the springs? Pelican search came up empty... Driver's side of course. This 914 site has been pretty slow lately but hope someone can help...

you should post in the classified sections (WTB) on forums.pelicanparts.com and www.914club.com. There is alot more 914 activity there and alot of parts swapping/selling.

Took the assembly out and cleaned it and replaced the broken spring with one for 80 cents from the hardware store- works great!

amen for the quick fixes! I'm working on a fuel injection issue right now. Seems to hesitate some after running for awhile. My 914 I'm just sorting out after a complete tear down and build up restoration. Just got it back on the road about 2 weeks ago.

How do you like your Cayenne?

Jim, would have never thought I'd buy one when they first were talked about! Wasn't too thrilled about Porsche building a truck instead of racing but that's another story. Replaced a big pickup tow vehicle when we downsized our trailer needs. Had it a couple months and love it. My wife didn't like the pickup (a crew cab HD) because it was so big. Loves this "car." Used it last weekend to tow a smaller enclosed trailer and it was perfect. I'm surprised this thing attracts nearly as many stares on the road (mostly by other SUV's) as the GT3... go figure! The 914 also attracts attention though, doesn't it? Nobody knows (or should I say remembers) what it is!

That's for sure on the 914...when I drove it last weekend to what was called the Midwest Classic (around detroit) I got pointed at and stared at alot. I stopped (since this was it's maiden voyage) at every toll plaza and always had someone coming up to me.

The 928 attracts the most attention though. I still get people coming up and asking when Porsche started making that one...they can't believe it when I tell them it is 21 years old!
